Olefin Area Rugs

Olefin area rugs (also known as polypropylene area rugs) are what you need to look at from when your old area rug is now redundant and you are looking for a replacement. Of course, there are a plethora of choices on the market, such as nylon and other synthetic varieties.

Olefin RugWhat factor should govern your choice? Is it convenience, style or low maintenance? Whatever your criteria may be, these days a lot of people prefer olefin rugs for their homes.

A Lot of Advantages

Why Olefin area rugs? Olefin rugs have a lot of advantages over other rugs:

  • Texture: Soft and wool-like to the touch.

  • Appearance: Luxurious in appearance.

  • Economical: Most of us want area rugs which are affordable unless we are looking to entertain some celebrities. Olefin rugs are economical, being one of the lowest costing rugs on the market.

An olefin rug is a particularly good choice, if you are looking at olefin rugs for your kid’s room. Normally, area rugs in a kid’s room do not last long, and hence need to be affordable.

  • Stain resistant: Olefin rugs are quite stain resistant. The main reason for this characteristic is that Olefin rugs are solution-dyed, and so do not absorb moisture.

Since they do not absorb moisture, and their color is an integral part of the olefin chemical structure, these area rugs are completely stain resistant.

So, due to this, they are ideal for your kid’s room or the living room. In fact, they are ideal for any place where there are chances of spillage and things being dropped on the rug, or people walking on it.

  • Colorfast: Olefin rugs have an innate quality of colorfastness. Unlike other rugs, these rugs do not fade easily, and can resist all sorts of permanent stains.

Therefore, even if you wash them, their color remains fast. This is because olefin area rugs are made using a solution-dyed process, which means that the color is added in the molecular structure of the fiber.

  • Fade resistant: Put it in the sun or put it in the shade; an olefin rug is quite fade resistant. No matter what you do, it will not fade, since the color is an integral part of its chemical structure.

Hence, your kids can play in the sun for hours, sitting on the olefin rug and it will retain its color. Be sure to use some sun block on the kids, though. They may not fade, but they sure could get sunburn.

  • Static resistant: Olefin area rugs are known for their resistance to static electricity. Hence, due to this very reason, they are used in many indoor and outdoor situations.

  • Mildew resistant and moisture resistant: Since the olefin rugs are mildew resistant and moisture resistant, they are used in a lot of places where a synthetic lawn is required.

  • Easy stain removal: Most stains on fabric can be readily removed by spotting with lukewarm water and detergent.

  • Durablility: An olefin rug doesn’t shed, pill, or fuzz.

  • Bleach them: Bleaches can be used if needed.

  • Clean at home: Olefin rugs can be steam-cleaned at home.
  • Note: Please do not confuse olefin with the synthetic material used for artificial turf, such as that used in outdoor sports like football, baseball, and golf.

Olefin rugs are reasonably priced, resist stains and do not fade fast. For these reasons, the area rugs are quite popular with parents and people who require rugs which can tolerate rough handling.

So, next time you need to get a rug for your home, try an olefin area rug!
