Brown Rugs

When it comes to the purchase of brown rugs, many people automatically assume that such a color will be considered boring or depressing when placed in a room. Rugs in this group include various tones of brown such as chocolate, taupe, mocha and teak. It is quite the opposite though when the color brown is mixed and matched with other colors that are complementary.

Great With Leather

brown area rugA brown area rug is a stylish choice that can work especially well with leather furniture. Most of the time, other earth colors are mixed throughout the room, through the usage of furniture, light fixtures, and wall hangings. However you chose to go about it, as long as it looks good to you, then you are on the right track.

(Use of the word brown in the name of the rug just means the major color of the rug is brown, but it still includes various designs and other colors. Only the solid-colored rug is an exception.)

Sizes and Shapes to Consider

Whether the new purchase of a brown area rug is for your apartment, your house, or your dorm room, just make sure that you are getting the right size. Brown rugs come in various sizes and shapes, so it is important to make sure that you are going in the right direction.

If the room you will be placing the rugs in has a lot of circular shapes in it, such as circle frames, then you will probably want to stick with that shape. It is still up to your tastes and preferences, however.

The same goes for a room that has a lot of straight lines. You may not want to stick with merely square or rectangle brown rugs, but consider round ones or other shaped ones, as well. If you have a little bit of everything going on in the room, then you can add just about any shape you want.

If you are going with several brown area rugs, then you can mix it up and add several different shapes and sizes for a nice effect. It is your room, so its design is completely up to you, based on what will make you feel comfortable and at ease.

The next thing you will want to figure out before you start shopping is the size of brown area rugs that you will want to look at. If the open floor space is extremely large, then you could always use a few different brown rugs placed throughout the area. If you are dealing with a smaller space, then you are safer to just stick with one brown area rug.

How Much Floor to Cover

Do you want to cover the entire floor from wall to wall? Then you will want to make sure that you are taking the correct measurements of the room. Keep in mind though that this will cost you a little more money.

You may also consider just covering the area of the floor that is not covered by most of your furniture. Measure that open area. Take that measurement and select a rug that fits the exact measurement, or one that is a little bigger.

Brown rugs, with their own added designs and colors, can add a relaxed, gentle touch to your rooms. Why not give some a try?
